James Victor Pierce, age 78, of Covington, Georgia passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 12, 1945, to Victor Vivian and Ruth Newell Pierce. Jim lived a life marked by hard work and unwavering love for his family.
Jim’s early years were spent playing basketball for Sylvan schools, after which he served with distinction in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Hancock. Following his service, he embarked on a long and successful career as an owner of a construction company and commercial electrical company.
A true partner in every sense of the word, Jim shared nearly 35 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Diane Bailey Pierce. Together, they cultivated a wonderful life with their only child and daughter, Vicki Pierce Hawley. They were either working together at the construction and electrical companies or at a softball field with Vicki. During their marriage they developed a love for playing contract bridge and later in years they joined a bridge club. After the untimely passing of Diane, Jim resolved himself to continue playing bridge and obtained the achievement of ACBL Life Master. If he was not playing bridge, he was watching sports and old westerns. He was true to the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves and the UGA Bulldogs. His love of sports and bridge were unmatched by the love for his grandchildren Dylan and Michalyn. He loved more than anything to attend their sporting and school events.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Vivian and Ruth Newell Pierce, his brother, George Everett Pierce, and his loving wife, Diane Bailey Pierce.
He is survived by his daughter and son in love, Victoria Lynn and Michael D. Hawley, his grandson, Dylan James Hawley and his granddaughter, Michalyn Alexis Hawley all of Social Circle.
A memorial luncheon will be held at the Hawley residence on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 2pm. Family and friends alike are welcome.
