Obituary

Andrew James Illick of Covington, GA, passed away in his home on December 4th, 2025 at the age of 58.

Andrew spent his last 13 years working for CSX railroad as an Intermodal Service Worker (ISW): his years split between two Atlanta-area yards. He was greatly beloved by his coworkers. He made a far greater impact, however, with his side work as a handyman. He touched the lives of all his customers with his carpentry and various other repair and renovation skills. Andrew loved music; he sang and played acoustic guitar, and was a huge fan of the Christian contemporary band Third Day, since when they performed free concerts behind Cumberland mall. He wrote several praise and worship songs in his life, which he played and sang regularly. He also adored several classic rock bands like Van Halen and Foreigner, folk artists like John Denver, and a electronic group named LEISURE from New Zealand. For recreation and to de-stress, he enjoyed mountain biking and hiking, as well as gun shooting and lake kayaking. Andrew was very outdoorsy and said often that he felt most at-home in the woods.

He is survived by his daughter Megan, son Nevan, stepmom Nelda Ireland Illick, and two half-siblings: David and Sandra.

Andrew was firm in his faith and trust in the Lord Jesus as his Savior, so this is not the end. We shall see him again, if we too, hold to our faith in Jesus as our one and only hope of salvation.

Andrew's memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7th, 2PM at Eastridge church on GA-142 in Covington.
