Jessica Nicole McGirt, known affectionately as Jellz to those closest to her, passed away on July 29, 2024, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on March 10, 1989, in Long Island, New York, she carried the vibrant spirit of her hometown throughout her 35 years of life. Jellz faced her battle with Lupus Nephritis with a courage and grace that inspired everyone she met.

Jellz was the beloved daughter of Amparo Deiter and James McGirt, a cherished twin sister to Melissa McGirt, an admired younger sister to Jeovana Garced and Kendall Lumkang, and a doting aunt to Kayla Lopez, Jaslene McGirt, Isabella Pinho, and Jace Butler. She was also a beloved niece to Joanna Ward, a dear cousin to Deanna Gines, Justin and Jayden Otero, Noah Rivera, and Jason Huertas, and a loving niece to her uncle Frankie Izquierdo. Each family member found in her a source of endless love and laughter, a bond that will continue to thrive in memory and spirit.

After graduating from Wyandanch Memorial High School in 2007, Jellz brought her luminous energy to the Waffle House in 2018, where she served as a beacon of joy to both colleagues and customers alike. Her infectious smile and kind nature made her a favorite among the regulars, and she truly embodied the spirit of hospitality.

Music flowed through Jellz's life, a passion that knew no genre. She shared countless memories with her twin sister and her nieces and nephew, often around the joy of song. Whether it was playing at the park,shooting pool, engaging in spirited karaoke battles, or simply relishing the moments with her beloved dog Summer, Jellz lived each day with a zest that was truly her own.

Those who knew Jellz will remember her as a loving, funny, and thoughtful presence. She had the rare gift of making every individual feel seen and heard, a testament to the depth of her empathy and compassion. Her laughter was a melody that resonated in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her, and her thoughtfulness was a gentle reminder of the beauty of human connection.
