Obituary

Olina Candida De Melo, lovingly known as Nina, was born on April 22, 1955, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, and passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at the age of 70, following an unexpected turn in her health.

Nina later made Griffin, Georgia her home, where she built a life rooted in love, hard work, family and so many friends. The most important roles of her life were being a devoted mother to her four children and a proud grandmother to her nine grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy and her greatest accomplishment.

She was full of life, known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and incredible cooking, always preparing delicious meals that brought everyone together. Nina was always willing to help anyone who crossed her path, consistently putting the needs of others before her own. A hardworking woman her entire life, she remained dedicated and strong, working up until the day she was taken to the hospital.

She is survived by her sons, Marcelo Esteves, Geovane De Melo, and Guilherme De Melo, and her daughter, Karoene Saldana, along with her beloved grandchildren and extended family.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Carver Road Baptist Church, located at 334 Carver Road, Griffin, GA 30224. If you wish to send flowers or gifts in her memory to the church, they are welcomed.

Nina will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her love, strength, and selflessness.
