Robert Douglas Reid, affectionately known as "Doug," "PawPaw," and "BawBaw," passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by family in Monroe, GA on January 29th, 2025, at the age of 97. Doug was born on November 7, 1927, in Forsyth County to the late J. Harold and Ola Reid. Over his long life, he touched the hearts of many with his warmth, generosity, and steadfast faith.

Doug lived a life full of dedication and service to both his country and his community. As a young man, he served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. After his military service, Doug returned home to build a life that was as industrious as it was generous.

He was the proud owner and operator of Reid's Body Shop for 68 years, a successful auto body repair business that became well-known in the community for its quality work and honest service. Alongside his work at the shop, Doug pursued his passion for farming, tending to his land and gardens with the same dedication and care that he showed in all aspects of his life. He strongly valued generosity and gave the majority of his harvest to friends and strangers alike.

Doug's love and care extended far beyond his professional endeavors. He was a man of deep faith, whose love for the Lord was evident in his interactions with everyone he met. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to helping others made him a cherished figure in the community.

Doug was preceded in death by his late wife, Betty Reid, with whom he shared a loving marriage for 53 years. The loss of Betty was felt deeply by Doug and all who knew them, as their relationship was a shining example of love and partnership. He was also preceded in death by his eldest son, Scott Reid; brothers, Edmond "Emmett" Harold Reid, Sr., Glenn Reid, Sonny Reid; and sister Judy Fields.

Doug is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Ginger Hunter, and his son and daughter-in-law, Robbie and Laura Reid. He is also survived by his brother, Dow (Joyce) Reid; and six sisters Jeannie (Jack) Hartman, Joanne Cowart, Ruth Pirkle, Becky (Tom) Dunnagan, Diane Martin, and Linda Hughes. Doug's legacy continues through his four grandchildren, Zebulon (Tiffany) Hunter, Logan (Melissa) Hunter, Jake (Sidney) Reid, Jesse Reid; and three great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of his spirit and memory forward. Doug will also be sadly missed by his loving companion and long-time caregiver, Julia Rooks.

In remembrance of Doug's legacy, a celebration of life will be held at Corinth Christian Church, 1635 Hwy 81, Loganville, GA 30052, on February 9th, 2025, at 2:30 PM. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Corinth Christian Church, a place that held great significance in their lives. Those who wish to further honor the legacy of Doug and Betty may also choose to plant wildflowers.

Doug Reid's life was a testament to hard work, devotion, and the impact of a generous heart. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire and guide those who follow in his footsteps.
