Barbara S. Gill-McGinnis, 84, of Benton Harbor, Michigan departed this life and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 20, 2021, in Lithonia, GA.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held in the spring on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Union Memorial A.M.E. Church in Benton Harbor, MI. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM and the service will start at 11:00 AM.
Barbara was born on August 2, 1937, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to William D. Lacy Sr and Doris L. (Franklin) Lacy. Her family moved to Benton Harbor, MI in 1942.
Barbara was a 1955 graduate of Benton Harbor High School and attended Michigan State University, Lake Michigan College, Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN, and Sienna Heights University, Adrian, MI.
On February 18, 1957, she united in marriage to Reginald Gill of Benton Harbor, MI. From this union four daughters were born, Toni, Regina, Veronica, and Linda. She was married to Reginald for 27 years and later married Russell McGinnis which lasted five years.
Barbara loved her family and enjoyed music, gardening, animals, cooking and fishing. She was active in her church and involved in community activities. She will be remembered for her kind and giving spirit by those who loved and knew her.
She is survived by her brother, Gordon (Veda) Lacy Sr. of San Antonio, TX; her four daughters, Toni Pearson of Benton Harbor, MI, Regina Cook and Linda Robinson of Lithonia, GA, and Veronica Gill of Niles, MI; two special step-sons, Reinaldo Tripplett of Benton Harbor, MI and Larry Freeze of Roy, UT; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, ex-husband, Reginald Gill, three sons-in-law, Donald, Ronnie, and Mike, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William D. Lacy Jr., and sister, Doris M. Lacy, and ex-husband, Russell McGinnis.
