Darrell Myroniuk, age 72, passed away in Atlanta, Georgia, on February 1, 2026. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Darrell was a trailblazer who became the first in his family to attend university, earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta. He built a respected career with the Government of Alberta and Suncor Energy before founding his own health and safety consulting firm.
Darrell was a man of deep pride and a protective spirit, serving as a steady anchor for those he loved. An avid history buff with an encyclopedic knowledge of the past, he was a fiercely independent thinker. Darrell never hesitated to take on contrarian viewpoints, always relishing a spirited debate. His sharp sense of humor and engaging personality made him a memorable force in any room.
His adventurous spirit kept him in constant motion. Whether he was hunting, mountain biking, weight lifting, or wrenching on his Harley-Davidson, Darrell lived life at full throttle. He had a deep love for travel and new experiences, which led him to embrace the challenge of learning Spanish while enjoying his retirement years in Mexico and Atlanta.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Humfrey and Francesca Myroniuk, and his brother, Raymond. He is survived by his wife, Hayde Lopez Rodriguez; son, Nicholas (Jennifer); granddaughters, Mykhaila and Liliya; stepdaughters, Tania and Cybelle; brother, Michael; and his loyal dogs, Melli and Thor.
