The only subject more beloved than the paintings and verse of nationally acclaimed artist D. Morgan was the woman herself. Native to the Atlanta area, Doris Whitten Morgan Messer passed away in Conyers, September 19, 2021, at 88 years young. Lover of Argentine tango, yorkies, cruises and Lake Chatuge, she looked forward to every chance to celebrate special times as well as elevate the everyday.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Messer; a daughter and son in law, Debbie and Duane Baker; a stepdaughter and son in law, Jeanie and Curt Jackson. Her son Dutch Whitten Cofer passed in 1988.
Everyone who met her became her friend, extended family, or her fan; or all three. She will be so missed. To learn more about this pioneer artist and author and read about her parents’ role in her life and career, visit www.dmorganart.com.
