With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Emil Bearnard Caldwell, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who left us on December 10, 2025, at the age of 68, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born on September 25, 1957, in Atlanta, Georgia, to George and Norma Jean Caldwell, Emil was known for his unmistakable sense of humor and deep dedication to his family. He devoted his life to those he loved, sharing his pranks, strong work ethic, and well-known stubbornness with his wife, Joanne Caldwell, and their children and grandchildren.
Emil was hard-working, deeply devoted to his family, and always up for a good prank. He was the kind of person who could drive you a little crazy, but you always knew would show up in an emergency. He taught his children what hard work truly looks like and the importance of showing up for family, no matter the circumstance. He faced his illness, and the loss of his beloved wife, with remarkable courage, never losing his sense of humor and doing his best to spend his remaining time with his children and grandchildren.
Emil is survived by his children, Jackie Batts, Joe Caldwell, Joy Caldwell, and Ian Caldwell; his grandchildren, Caelyn Batts, Jace Caldwell, Carson Caldwell, Martiza Davila, Jasper Caldwell, Nolan Caldwell, Cwen Batts, and Oakley Caldwell; and his sister, Rebecca Mashburn. His steady presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
No service is planned, per his wishes.
Rest in peace, dear Emil. Your lessons and love will echo in our hearts always.
Always stubborn. Always family. Always missed.
