George Bell Obituary

George Junior Bell went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday September 17, 2021. He passed away at the Westbury Nursing facility at the age of 87. He had been living there for the past couple of years shortly after his wife Letha Bell passed away.

George was born to Elmer and Pauline Bell May 28, 1934. He was one of six children, born and raised in the good ole hills of Spencer Tennessee. He eventually made his way to Ohio and lived there for several years before moving to Georgia settling in the Griffin area.

He married Letha Anderson in 1957 and they began their wonderful journey of which they enjoyed 61 years together before his beloved left for her heavenly home.

George enjoyed being outdoors. He ran in the Peachtree Road race for 30 years straight. He was always fixing something. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He worked for the Atlanta Millwright Union local 1263 for many years.

He always loved a good family game of croquet or shuffleboard. He loved to help Lee with her many outdoor flower garden projects. He loved telling stories of silly things that happened to him during the Peachtree Road races. Him and Lee loved camping and going to the beach. Being silly was a favorite pastime, always making Lee say Oh June stop it.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father Elmer and Pauline Bell and three of his siblings Tom, Eddie and Freda as well as his wife Letha. He is survived by his two sons Danny and David; his daughter in law Marie; a sister Louise; and a brother Freddie. He has five grandchildren Deanna, Jessica, Steven, Sheila and Jeffrey along with 12 great-grand children and 9 great great-grandchildren. His love of life was great. We will carry his love with us in the days and weeks and months and years ahead. A memorial Service will be held later.
