Herbert Weldon Varner, a long time dedicated Witness of Jehovah
and resident of Dallas, GA, went to sleep on October 19, 2020, at
the age of 74.
"Webb" as his wife, family and many friends affectionately
referred to him, was loved by many and will be missed terribly.
He dedicated his life to Jehovah in 1971. He served in the full-time
ministry from 2012 until present and aided many to learn the truth
about God's promise of a new earth by means of God's Kingdom.
He was first appointed as a Ministerial Servant in 1973 and then
appointed as an Elder. He served as an appointed man for the
remainder of this life.
He loved his family, his congregation, his long-time friends speaking
about such ones with such affection. He loved food and gathering
together with family and friends. He loved golf, talking about golf
and reminiscing about golf.
He was a selfless person and would often travel a great distance to
give you the shirt off of his back.
Weldon is survived by his wife Gladys Varner (Gordon); his
children, Daren Varner and Zayna Shamaiya Varner; his 5
grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Weldon was born in Summerville, SC on December 12, 1945 to
Samuel Varner and Ethel Bowman. He graduated from Alston
High School in 1966. On August 16, 1965 he married, Gladys
Gordon, his high school sweetheart. Later on, he welcomed his
son and daughter, who were a most important part of his life.
