Gone too soon, but his legacy will live on in the hearts, minds, memories and lives of those who knew and loved him. He is greatly loved and missed by all whose lives he touched.
Jim was a beautiful soul. His kind and loving heart was evident in everything he did. He was born in Switzerland, grew up in Hickory, NC, and spent his adult life in Atlanta, GA. He graduated from UNC Charlotte with a dual degree: Mechanical Engineering and German! He was active in the Swiss Club of Atlanta.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Walter Eppelin and mother, Nora Eppelin. He is survived by his sister, Isabelle Rico, three nieces, Andrea VanCuren (husband Zachary), Erin Hope (husband Dakota) and Hannah Detter, two nephews, William Detter and Emmanuel “Manny” Rico, two grand-nephews, Bryson Hope and Hudson Hope, and one grand-niece, Ollie VanCuren. He also had relatives in Canada and Switzerland whom he stayed close with throughout his life.
Jim had so many friends all over the country and various parts of the world. He was known by many through his business and philanthropic endeavors as well as hobbies and other interests. He was an optimist even during times of struggle. He was thoughtful and caring in all of his interactions at every level. He loved the Lord and always helped those around him in any way that he could. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rest In Peace Dear Jim. You will always be loved and missed. Until we see each other again one day in Glory….Auf Wiedersehen!
