Kathleen Brady Mackey, 64, a longtime resident of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on August 15th, 2023. Born in Utica, New York, she was a vibrant human who embraced life's successes and challenges with a determined spirit.
Kathleen's love for cooking was the center of her world and a joy she literally brought to the table. Her creativity and zeal in the kitchen was exemplified by not only her employment at a variety of Atlanta restaurants, but also her successful catering business. Cooking was a true passion that she generously shared with friends, family, and the local community.
An avid reader, Kathleen found endless solace and entertainment within pages of books and delighted in showcasing her knowledge through games like Jeopardy, crossword puzzles, and Backgammon. Her competitive yet fun-loving nature made her a delightful and sometimes intimidating opponent. Kathleen also loved music and movies -- you could often find her singing along to Bonnie Raitt or watching Galaxy Quest for the hundredth time (both of which were worthy pastimes).
Always thinking of others, Kathleen went above and beyond to support her loved ones, and her compassion touched lives in profound ways. With an infectious smile and a welcoming demeanor, she effortlessly made friends wherever she went. Her ability to connect with others was a true testament to her genuine and open-hearted nature and she wanted nothing more than to "make 'em laugh".
Kathleen was preceded in death by her father, John Brady, mother, Carol Brady and brother, Michael Brady. She is survived by her loving husband, David Mackey; her daughters, Erin Schopf and Jennifer Paolucci, son-in-law, Carl Paolucci; her siblings, Elizabeth Simcoe, Thomas Brady, and Brigid Brady, as well as numerous other family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
