Khalil Jibri Gary Robinson

DECATUR- Khalil Jibri Gary-Robinson was born in Syracuse New York on December 3, 1982 to Denise Gary-Robinson and Robert Robinson. He graduated from McQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester NY in 2000 and attended SUNY Geneseo for two years.

In 2009 Khalil read about a Van Jones and an organization called Green for All which was advocating for a new ecologically sustainable  green economy, where opportunities would flourish for young people with these new innovative skills.

Thus, Khalil found his calling, he worked at gaining technical in various green occupations and became a climate change advocate. Working along with his dad Khalil helped develop training programs to teach disadvantaged youth how to install solar panels, convert waste vegetable oil into biodiesel fuel and how to build aquaponic organic farms and generate compost.

Khalil quickly gained  the skills to become a master trainer and took great pride in knowing that the training he provided was making a difference in peoples’ lives. In addition, he  improved our  training in a way that would not only help students gain the hands on technical skills and the certification needed to get the job and he also, helped them gain the ethical, time management and social skills necessary to keep the job.

Khalil was especially devoted to his family, taking care of his mother who was debilitated by a stroke in 2015 and his wheelchair bound father who has suffered with MS for the past thirty years.

Khalil is predeceased by his brother Najil Dihaan and survived  by his son Jabari  E.  Gary Robinson, his grandmother Donna Gary, grandfather Marcus Gary, his mother Denise Gary Robinson, and his father Robert Robinson. In edition Khalil is survived by his brothers Henry Robinson and Asa Gary Robinson; two uncles and one aunt Marcus Gary Jr., James E. Gary and Pansy Jones; four cousins Aisha Gary, Kai Gary, Damani Johnson, Keirra Gary and a niece and nephew Eden Robinson and Heru Dihaan.
