LaVonne Camille Pullen was born December 4, 1952 in Carbondale, Illinois to the late Reverend Wilmon Pullen, Sr. and Lula Smith-Pullen. She was the eighth of eight children of this union. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Wilmon, Jr., Joseph Daniel (JD), Samuel Levi, and sisters Lula Belle and Esther Vashti.
At an early age she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior; she attended and was baptized at Faith Temple COGIC in Carbondale. LaVonne received her formal education in the Carbondale school system, attending Attucks Elementary School and graduating from Carbondale Community High School. After graduation, LaVonne moved to Springfield, Illinois. She was a member of Prayer Wheel COGIC and Embassy East Ministries in Springfield, Illinois. She later moved to Decatur, GA where she joined New Life Ministries in Decatur.
LaVonne’s work career included coal mining, transportation, senior services, and law enforcement. Her many interest included reading, traveling, theatre/movie watching and spending time with her family. She was always loving and caring especially with her nieces and nephews who she adored.
On August 4, 2021, God gently called LaVonne to be with HIM in her eternal home. She leaves to cherish her memories:
Sisters: Zetta Pullen-Robinson of Springfield, IL and Faye Pullen-Jones of Covington, GA. Brother-in-law, James Jones of Covington GA; Sister-in-law, Christine Pullen of Carbondale, IL and she leaves a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other relatives and friends.
