Mildred Sacks Obituary

Mildred Elizabeth (Mallon) Sacks, 90, of Newborn, Georgia, passed away October 17, 2023.  Mildred was born in 1933 to Michael and Florence Mallon, and grew up alongside one brother, Larry.  She attended a two room school house until high school, and graduated in 1950.

Mildred married Frank Sacks in 1954, and together they travelled the world while Frank was in the United Stated Air Force.  His service took them to New Jersey, Guam, Okinawa, Japan, Michigan, , Maine, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where they retired in 1972.  Along the way, together they raised six children all of whom survive them.  Dona St. Hilaire, (George,(d. 2023)) of Sanford, Maine, Lauren Grace, of Caanan, New Hampshire, Wendy Kirwan (Tim), of Conway, South Carolina, Bobbi Helmacy, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, Kori Romig (Bill), of Newborn, Georgia, and Michael Sacks (Kathie), of Rochester, New Hampshire. Millie and Frank were married 56 years until his passing in February 2011.

Millie was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by her family and friends, old and new, and will be remembered for her smile and hugs for them all.  Millie loved to read, play board games, complete puzzles of any kind, and watch game shows.  She was creative and loved to make wooden holiday gifts with Frank. She instilled in her family a love of nature, especially birds, flowers, and clouds.  She loved her church families in Portsmouth Ward and Covington Ward, and her years of teaching the children in Primary, most recently the four-year olds in Georgia.

A memorial to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 at 10:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10235 Eagle Drive, Covington, GA 30014.  A Zoom link has been created for those wishing to participate from a distance. Webinar ID: 963 6783 5812
